The SENTENCE COMPLETION question presents simple, compound or complex sentences from which one or two words are omitted. Your choice must BEST complete the intended meaning of the sentence. This type of question attempts to evaluate your ability to read with comprehension and discrimination. You must not only understand what the writer says explicitly, but also what he wishes you to conclude from the statement. :RA Following each selection are five words or pairs of words, one of which will best complete the meaning of the sentence(s). Your choice must be appropriate in meaning, style and tone. :RA It is suggested you follow these three steps in answering the Sentence Completion question: 1. Read the sentence(s) carefully to be certain that you have grasped the main idea, tone and style. :RA 2. Keeping the idea, tone and style in mind, try to fit into the blank space or spaces, each of the five suggested words or pairs of words. By this step, you should usually be able to eliminate three of the answers as obviously inappropriate. Study carefully the logic of the sentence with each of the remaining possible answers. Then choose the most appropriate answer. :RA 3. Read the complete sentence again to make certain that the whole selection now makes sense and that the inserted word or words are indispensable to the overall meaning.
